NHL notebook: Kings call up Gravel
By The Sports Xchange
The Los Angeles Kings recalled defenseman Kevin Gravel from the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League, the team announced Sunday.
The 24-year-old Gravel appeared in four games during his first NHL call-up in February, including his first NHL game on Feb. 11. He is still looking for his first NHL point.
--The Calgary Flames assigned forward Emile Poirier to the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League.
Poirier, 21, has played in two games for the Flames, with two penalty minutes.
--Chicago Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford worked out on the ice for the second consecutive day before Sunday's game. Crawford has missed the past nine games because of an upper-body injury, but the team hopes to have him available for the playoffs.
--Boston Bruins defenseman Kevan Miller missed Sunday's game because of a lower-body injury that he sustained Friday against St. Louis.
--Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin, still out indefinitely, missed a 12th consecutive game with an upper-body injury.
--Penguins rookie goalie Matt Murray started for the second day in a row because G Marc-Andre Fleury is out indefinitely with his second concussion of the season.
--Philadelphia Flyers goalie Steve Mason played for a second successive day and the eighth time in 15 days because of backup goalie Michal Neuvirth's lower-body injury.
