Sharks, the best first period team, clash with Avalanche

No team in the NHL is better in the first frame than the San Jose Sharks.

The Sharks rank first in goals scored during the first period with 75 (six more than second place Ottawa) and have allowed the third-least amount of goals with 42 in the stanza. The 75:42 ratio is the third strongest goals for/goals against ratio for a single period in the NHL.

The Sharks (-114) will face the Avalanche (+105) Saturday and if you're a San Jose backer make sure to watch the first period intently.


Bruins look to extend road streak in Washington

The Boston Bruins' incredible 12-game winning streak ended versus the Montreal Canadiens Monday, but their streak of road wins in still alive and well.

The B's take a seven-game road winning streak into the Nation's capital to face the Washington Capitals Saturday afternoon. The steak began with a 6-3 win over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on March 2.

Boston is currently a -129 road fave at the Caps (+119).
