It's been slow getting out of the gate this year when it comes to finding plays.
There are multiple reasons for that. But mainly all of the new umpires is the biggest problem.
I have noticed a smaller problem with the advance umpire numbers this year. They include exhibition games in the last 10...
Which are useless.
Coming out of the All Star break we should be able to find regular action.
So far the just missed games and are 1 official play has done well.
The format has changed a little in how the info gets posted.
All the umpire numbers alone, with the team and pitches will be in one post.
After those are all filled in. I will then add in a pitchers report for each league.
About this thread.
I have been using the umpire info with my handicapping of baseball for over 10 years.
This is the 7th season of doing the thread on here. Prior to this site I use to do the thread at Pregame.
It was because of that thread and the popularity of it I was offered a job with them.
Long story short. I said no and opened this site.
The numbers are very easy to read.
The umpire name and stats are the first thing you see. Those reflect the current season.
Next you see "Current streak" That is simply the current streak the umpire himself is on.
After that you see last 10 with the teams. That is what it says. The last 10 games they played with umpire listed working home plate.
If you see less than 10 games. Either it's a new ump or there were some exhibition games mixed in the last 10.
Same with the pitchers. The numbers reflect the last 10 games worked with the ump.
I think the pitcher and umpire working relationship is the strongest number in here. If those are missing. Then usually there is no play.
If all the numbers line up. Then we have what I call in here an official play. That would be a 1 unit play.
There will also be times where I suggest a play titled action play. That would be for half.
While the results have been good over the years. There is never really a high number of plays.
That's fine...
We have some pretty sharp members on this site picking up the slack and producing winners daily.
Make sure to view their threads inside this section.
