| It's safe to say that the Sun Belt Conference is the weakest of all Division-1 conferences, and the winner is a likely one-and-done in the Big Dance. It didn't help when the Texas State Bobcats fell as the No. 1 seed to eventual champion Appalachian State in the first round of this tourney last season. And our well-oiled machine notes that Sun Belters tend to party a little too hard in games following an upset win in this tourney. That's confirmed by the fact that they are just 11-38 SU and 17-32-1 ATS in all games since 2000, including 1-12 SU and 2-11 ATS in follow-up games the last seven years. | The relaunch of the USFL is set to start next month, but not before the old USFL has a say. Per Axios Sports, a group of owners and executives from the original USFL (1983–85) are suing Fox to block the launch of the new USFL, set to kickoff April 16. The plaintiffs, who refer to themselves as "the Real USFL," claim that Fox's new league (NBC is also an investor) is an "unabashed counterfeit" that has no claim to its logo or team identities. "Fox is claiming to be something that it's not — the heir of the 1980s league that launched numerous Hall of Fame careers and changed the game of football," said attorneys for the Real USFL. So what we have is another startup professional football league facing legal complications and a cloudy future? You don't say. Hall of Fame fullback and former USFL GM Larry Csonka is part of the group bringing the lawsuit. |
