    WHAT'S BREWING TODAY
    Friday, March 11

    On Today's Scorecard
    Beastly
Since 1939 the winner of the Big East Tournament has gone on to win the NCAA Tournament twelve times. Only the Pac-12/10 and SEC own more titles.

VILLANOVA: May not be the No. 1 seed in the event but until the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season, the Wildcats had averaged nearly 31 wins per season the prior nine years. After going one-and-done in last year's Big East tourney as the No. 1 seed, behind the nation leading Free Throw Shooting unit nailing over 82% of their freebies from the stripe, expect these sharpshooting cats' eyes to be fully focused on the prize. FYI: be careful today, though. Villanova is 1-10 ATS in its second Big East tourney game the last thirteen years...

PROVIDENCE: Like Villanova, they too were bounced in the first round of this tourney last season. It lowered their record in this event to 11-3 ATS since 2014. The tops seeds in the tourney also bring a sterling 15-4 ATS overall mark in this event...

CONNECTICUT is 34-1 SU and 20-11 ATS against losing foes. They are also 8-2 SU and 9-1 ATS in their last ten Big East tourney bouts...

SETON HALL has brought home the loot in this tourney, going 10-1 ATS in all games since 2016. They were also 6-2 SUATS against .750 or better foes this season.

At long last, the owner-imposed lockout is over, and baseball is ready to return. MLB and the MLB Players' Association struck a deal Thursday following several marathon days of bargaining this week, according to multiple reports. At 99 days, the lockout is the second longest work stoppage in baseball history, behind only the 1994-95 player's strike (232 days).

Now that the lockout is over, we can shift our focus back to actual baseball – if anyone cares.

MLB has soured the fans, and now its up to them to win them back over. Good luck with that.

    The Heat Is On
Oops. We were a bit premature when we posted this on Wednesday, when in fact this game tips tonight. Once again, here are the nuts and bolts..

The Heat have had this game circled ever since the Cavs clocked them in Cleveland, 105-94, in mid-December. That was on the heels of a 111-85 crush job by the Cavs over the Heat on this floor on December 1.

With it, these are the sort of games Erik Spoelstra lives for. Miami's maestro is 99-79-1 ATS at home with same season revenge, including 92-25-1 ATS in those games he wins straight-up on the scoreboard.

And then there is Cleveland. Even after the two wins this season, the Cavs check in just 4-11 SUATS in this series, including 1-7 ATS in Miami. You know the deal.
