    Sports Betting Getting Scary
David Purdum of ESPN said that Charles Barkley is concerned about the proliferation of sports betting, but with legal sportsbooks now operating in 30 states - including some located inside NBA arenas - the NBA Hall of Famer and outspoken gambler believes there's no turning back at this point.

"There's too much of it," Barkley said. "We've got people in the stands betting on who's going make the next free throws. Think about that. If I was a scumbag, I'd look at a guy in the stands, a friend, and say, 'Yo, I'm going to miss both of these free throws.' Now, that's cheating."

When you get to that point, I think it's really scary. Listen, gambling's always been part of sports," he added. "That's why the NFL is King Kong."

    Orr Not
The Tampa Bay Lightning are looking for a three-peat, while the Avs are seeking their first championship since 2001 and just the third in franchise history (1996) when they tonight in the opening game of this season's Stanley Cup Finals.

After sweeping Nashville in the first round, the Avalanche defeated the Blues in six games before sweeping the Oilers in the Western Conference finals.

Avs' superstars, Cale Makarand Nathan MacKinnon, appear to be cut from a different cloth. Makar is being compared to Bobby Orr after three rounds of the playoffs, and he has a four-point edge on MacKinnon for the team lead. MacKinnon has 11 goals (six more than Makar), but Makar is +170 to win the Conn Smythe. It's why Colorado is a -175 favorite to win the Cup.

Meanwhile, the Lightning are four wins from hoisting their third straight Stanley Cup, a feat that hasn't been accomplished since Ronald Reagan was in the White House. In fact, only eight franchises have gone back-to-back-to-back in the history of the four major North American sports leagues, and it hasn't happened in 20 years (Islanders 1980-83) – including none in the NFL in the Super Bowl era.
    Grinding Out The Profits
    J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets!
More bets have been placed on the Jets to win the Super Bowl than any team besides the Bills, and they're currently the largest Super Bowl liability at FanDuel and Caesars.

At DraftKings, no team's win total has been bet more heavily than the Jets (over 5.5). At PointsBet, more money has been bet on the Jets to win the AFC East than the Dolphins and Patriots combined.

Are the Jets ready to take off from the tarmac? The franchise is sure due for a breakout: Their 11-year playoff drought is nearly twice as long as the next worst (Broncos: six).
