  • The Pulse : Question of the week. Sports Betting Related.

When I first brought the site back I made a comment about people posting.
I said you don't have to post everyday but at least prove you have a pulse.
So since the poll question of the week no longer uses a poll...
TIS creative worked overnight to come up with the name change

Last weeks question got some new faces involved and that was good. But I think this question should top last weeks total replies.

Here we go. It's 3 parts. Answer all 3 or just 1 if you wish.
Now if you look in here and don't answer anything. Then your pretty pathetic.

    1. How old were you when you made your first wager on a sporting event ?
    2. Do you remember the game and the outcome ?
    3. Why did you join a sports betting forum ?

I'm real curious to hear the answer for #3
The answers may help me in deciding the future direction of the site.

I was a freshman in college, in 1995. I don't remember who they were playing but I put $20 on the KC Chiefs. It was a winner which usually helps keeping your interest. I joined the forum cause generally you can come across a lot of quality handicappers and people that can relate and or benefit your own handicapping. Sometimes there are contest and other competitive things to keep people involved.

It was the 1995 Super Bowl when the 49ers killed the chargers. I was 24 Yrs old. I can't remember the score....I wanna say 49-23? My brother got me involved with this site a few years ago because of the service plays. In the beginning I would look at Root, Boyd, ect. Now I just look at how many are one way then fade em. The members on the forum is where I can't stop looking at. The feedback and analysis from the members on the forums is tremendous. I really enjoy reading everyone's perspective on these games. It even got me gambling on NCAA basketball as a few of these members are very good at handicapping games and it makes me study more so I don't screw anyone else incase they see my numbers and wanna follow me. After each day I go back and check to see how everyone's doing at the window. We are all addicts here, and this site fuels my gambling problem lol.

I think i was about 17 yrs old and i made a small wager on the then Marquette Warriors who featured George Thompson & Dean Memminger they were playing the Detroit Titans coached by none other than Dick Vitale and had Spencer Haywood as their star, was at the game and Marquette won me my first bet.
I didn't know what to expect when i joined TIS I was seeking info from different sources throuhout the country
and i have ended up with what i wanted because of the diversity of people in the forum. Most of the people here
know their sports and are actually better cappers than the so-called wise guys, thanks JD for keeping this going,it's been interesting, informational and fun

I bet on the Baltimore Colts -17 in Super Bowl III. I lost 4 dollars, but I was in junior high and had zero way to pay. Somehow, I scratched the money together and paid everyone the day after the game (3 separate bets). This is hilarious as I'm writing it...it wasn't funny then.
I got on TIS out of curiosity. I realized after about three weeks that there was more info here, better info here and better handicappers here than were in the service plays.
A couple of years ago, my business closed, so I had no discretionary income. That has changed and I'm glad to be back. Cheers.

I used to bet parlay tickets when i was in high school. One of the first ones i played I hit a 7 teamer for 42 dollars for a dollar investment.I needed the Buffalo Bills giving up seven to complete the ticket and they took an intercepted pass back for a td to win by 10 in the last minute of the game.I joined a sports forum to kind of give me a consesus as to which way the gambling public are going on a game and to get the opinions of certain cappers I respect.

                    2. Do you remember the game and the outcome ? Eagles game Dec 8th w/ my bookie uncle won $30 then doubled down don't remember the 4pm game but won again and thought this is easy .. Boy was i wrong ..
                    3. Why did you join a sports betting forum ? Will the winner Rogers screwed me over on a super bowl pick "win or the basketball season is free" after The super bowl lost I called for my free bball and was told I would only get the free picks but could buy the true bball package at a discount . After telling a friend he told me about a forum similar to this and ive been following every since ..

Question #1. 17 years old. Question #2 Definitely a football game and I believe it was a parlay card. Question #3.When I was young I took a job with a tout service "professor picks" While working there I realized how important it was to research games and gather as much information as possible. I also found that not everyone is hot all the time but they go on streaks and you need to keep a close eye as to who is on a streak and who is not.

I was 10 and bet on little league girls softball .......J/K but probably believable!!

I really don't remember what age I got started probably around 16. Played all spot sheets to begin with. Was really good at it and after high school a lot of my buddies moved to Columbus and they would call and give me the lines off their sheets and I would play thru them because I would go to Columbus on the weekends and party with them and watch the Ohio St games!Always a big party, I would win about 3 sheets a weekend, collect the money, pay for a couple kegs and my gas money.
After college a co worker got me involved in actual gambling.I would bet $11.00 parlays to begin with and of course he would make fun of me(he was much older than me). After a few years I was betting more than him he would say what kind of monster did he create.Started working for his bookie taking my own bets and also getting a % of what I turned in.(This is where I was taught a lot)This guy would use me to place bets with other bookies for games he wanted to lay off. Some weeks I didn't even have to bet as I just collected the juice from my players and the % that I turned in (which was great!)
Most I ever wagered on a game was 3850.00, which I won and had a nervous breakdown watching.Never again, which is why the most I play now is 1100.00 rarely!I used to parlay, tease and roundrobin a lot,but learned that the most consistent way to go is plain old straight betting.

                        Joining a sports betting forum:

I have always been a sports guy, captain of the baseball and basketball team in high school, only played Jr high football but was looking at finding people that loved sports like I do.I joined one site and rarely posted as the people there were basically out for themselves and tore people down when they lost.Made me scared to post.
I happened upon this site and instantly felt right at home.Redneck PMed me and asked me a few things and learned about him playing baseball and just made me feel welcomed.Even thou he's a Cleveland fan!lol
I was always good at what I do,but this site has made me a whole lot better.I have the confidence to play the way I do (not many can play the amount of games I do and win) and accept the results good or bad and feel that if I lose I can get it back.My best sports are COLLEGE BASKETBALL and FOOTBALL,not the NFL or NBA.Some years I don't even play the NBA.You have to know your strengths and weaknesses.

This was probably a little more than you wanted Gamer, but I got going and couldn't stop!

Made a lot of friends since joining this site that I never would have if it wasn't operational.

This site has the best cappers, information, naked pics, and just all around great people! Nothing beats a positive attitude and you get that here!

Good luck to everyone here and if you ever need something just PM me and if I can I will help!

Thanks gamer for reopening the site if even on a temporary basis.

reason for joining a forum, information. Used to buy sports newspapers, tout sheets, etc. I saw an ad for an on line site for FB.Finally broke into the computer age! On the site I saw service plays posted, then a link to another site with more plays provided by GG. I followed him here and never regretted it. I like to have a reason for a play that's based on info and while the results are not great, at least I'm not flipping a coin.

started betting when i was 17, my dad would make the wagers for me at the casino.
First bet was a 5 team parlay which i hit. Now i cant hit a 1 teamer half the time

I joined one of the other forums because i was looking for sports betting information and to learn how to cap games. The other site was shit, just people talking shit to each other constantly. That got old fast. Saw GG mention he was moving over here and ive been addicted ever since. Great group of guys, no BS, and always friendly.

I made my first bet as a freshman in college with a crooked bookie student. That was 32 years ago!!!

I believe it was a 3 team college football parlay. One of the teams was Vandy. The parlay was a winner but my bookie said he wasn't able to get it in. I paid him $25 up front. He returned that, though.

Your website is a treasure trove of information!!! It really is.
