Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Jonathan Stewart (hamstring) will miss "at least a week or two."
Stewart had an MRI Monday morning, but the results are not yet known. Either way, Stewart not going to play against the Vikings, and he could end up missing multiple weeks

CSN New England's Michael Giardi reports a source close to Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) told him a 3-4 week timetable is "reasonable and fair."
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Monday there was hope Garoppolo could return by Week 4, and ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Patriots have not given up hope of Garoppolo playing Thursday. The main takeaway is no one really knows how long the sprained AC joint will sideline Garoppolo

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer announced that Adrian Peterson has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus.
It could have been a lot worse, though it's still likely Peterson is looking at a multi-week absence. Zimmer didn't completely dismiss the idea of Peterson playing against the Panthers in Week 3, but given the nature of his injury, we'd consider that an extreme long shot.

Doug Martin's hamstring injury is expected to cost him three weeks.
It sounds like Monday's MRI revealed a severe strain at least and a possible tear at worst. Either way, three weeks is a long time after Martin claimed his hammy was only mildly tweaked in Sunday's blowout loss to Arizona. It's certainly possible the injury winds up hindering Martin all season. The Bucs have a brutal schedule forthcoming but new lead back Charles Sims' all-purpose ability will stabilize his floor.

Jay Cutler's thumb injury is expected to cost him 2-3 weeks.
This assumes the thumb heals normally. The Bears have been saying Cutler's right (throwing) thumb is only sprained, and called him day to day. He's clearly more week to week. Brian Hoyer will take over at quarterback with the Cowboys, Lions, Colts, and Jaguars next up on Chicago's schedule

Panthers OC Mike Shula said he would likely handle the running back carries by committee without Jonathan Stewart (hamstring) in the lineup.
Fozzy Whittaker is the popular add this week following his 16-100 rushing day Week 2 after Stewart got hurt, but second-year RB Cameron Artis-Payne is expected to be active and split the load.

Updating a previous item, Ameer Abdullah's foot injury did require surgery.
Little details are known about just what kind of injury Abdullah suffered with his foot, and coach Jim Caldwell isn't going to let anything out into the media. All we know is Abdullah has been placed on injured reserve, and the Lions hope to get him back at some point after the eight weeks he's required to miss.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports there is a "real chance" Rob Gronkowski (hamstring, questionable) plays Thursday night.

The San Diego Union-Tribune considers Antonio Gates' (hamstring) status "uncertain" for Week 3 at Indianapolis.
The Chargers signed TE Austin Traylor to their practice squad on Tuesday, possibly hinting Gates' absence from Wednesday's practice was more than a day of veteran rest. Beat writer Michael Gehlken suggests fellow practice squad TE Asante Cleveland could be promoted to the 53-man roster before Sunday, "perhaps with Gates inactive."

Corey Coleman suffered a broken hand at Wednesday's practice.
One of Coleman's teammates came down on his hand after making a catch. The injury occurred at the portion of practice that was closed to the media so details are scarce.

Corey Coleman is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after undergoing surgery on his broken hand.
Things just keep getting worse for the Browns, who have now lost two starting quarterbacks, their No. 1 receiver, their starting center, and a rookie defensive end to injury in the first two weeks

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Jacoby Brissett thumb injury isn't considered serious.
Brissett tore a ligament in his right (throwing) thumb Thursday night against Houston but it doesn't sound like he'll miss much time. The Patriots have nine days to figure out their quarterback situation for Week 4 against Buffalo.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Rashad Jennings (thumb) is expected to miss Sunday's Week 3 game against the Redskins.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Brandon Marshall (knee/foot) is expected to play at Kansas City, but he will be on a snap count.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Sammy Watkins (foot) will not play Sunday against the Cardinals.

Willie Snead (questionable, toe) is a game-time decision for Week 3 against Atlanta.
