Re: NFL Player News and Weather Week 9.

Sammy Watkins (hamstring) remained "limited" in Thursday's practice.
Watkins is tentatively on track to suit up for the first time since Week 5, but nothing can be assumed for a player with Watkins' injury history.

Chris Godwin (finger) remained "limited" in Thursday's practice.
Godwin was deemed a "full" participant for Wednesday's walk-through, but he ended up getting a different designation on the injury report. Godwin is probably going to suit up against the Saints, but his status cannot be taken for granted until he gets in a "full" practice. Hopefully Friday brings clarity.

Chris Carson (foot) remained sidelined on Thursday.
As did Carlos Hyde (hamstring). Coach Pete Carroll has been saying all week that Carson will test out his foot on Friday, but back-to-back DNPs make his odds of returning against the Bills long. Travis Homer (knee) did practice Thursday. If neither Carson nor Hyde can go, DeeJay Dallas should lead the backfield for another week with Homer mixing in.

Bucs WR Chris Godwin (finger) is listed as questionable for Week 9 against the Saints.
Bucs head coach Bruce Arians said Godwin will suit up for Sunday's tilt against New Orleans after he missed last week's game with a finger injury.

Chris Carson (foot) won't play in Week 9 against the Bills.

Kenyan Drake (ankle) won't play in Week 9 against the Dolphins.

Mark Ingram (ankle) is doubtful for Week 9 against the Colts.
Ingram isn't expected to play after sitting out from practice throughout the week.

Saints head coach Sean Payton said Drew Brees (right shoulder) and Michael Thomas (ankle, hamstring) will be game day calls for Week 9.
The New Orleans Advocate's Luke Johnson said he believes both Brees and Thomas will be active against the Bucs this Sunday. "We'll see," Payton said when asked if Brees or Thomas would play this week. "I thought we had a good week of preparation. And we'll wait 'til gameday."

Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 9 against the Steelers.
Cowboys OC Kellen Moore said it's a "wait-and-see thing" when asked about Elliott's potential workload against Pittsburgh.

Re: NFL Player News and Weather Week 9.

Sammy Watkins (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 9 against the Panthers.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the Cowboys will start Garrett Gilbert in Week 9 against the Steelers.
Gilbert got the majority of reps in practice this week. He was signed off Cleveland's practice squad after Dak Prescott went down in Week 5. Gilbert beat out Cooper Rush, who will serve as the backup.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Matthew Stafford will be cleared for Week 9 against the Vikings if his tests return negative Sunday morning.
Stafford was activated from the reserve/COVID list Saturday but would still need to test negative once more in order to suit up.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Falcons believe it will be "tough" for Calvin Ridley (foot) to play in Week 9 against the Broncos.
The Falcons will test Ridley's ankle pre-game but, having missed every practice throughout the week, are not expecting him to play.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Keenan Allen (sore throat) needs to pass other COVID tests before being cleared to play for Week 9 against the Raiders.
Allen, who is dealing with a sore throat, initially tested negative for COVID-19 but still needs to pass other tests prior to kick-off. Schefter adds that the Chargers are "hopeful" he'll suit up but are also preparing as if it won't have him.

Ravens promoted WR Dez Bryant from the practice squad.
Bryant evidently proved himself in 11 days on the taxi squad. The 32-year-old has not played a regular season snap since Dec. 31, 2017. He suffered a torn Achilles' tendon in the interim.

Re: NFL Player News and Weather Week 9.

Falcons declared WR Calvin Ridley, RB Ito Smith, DE Dante Fowler Jr., OT John Wetzel, DT Marlon Davidson, DT Deadrin Senat, and DE Takk McKinley inactive for Week 9 against the Broncos.

Ravens declared RB Mark Ingram (ankle), LB L.J. Fort (finger), QB Trace McSorley, DE Jihad Ward, and DT Broderick Washington inactive for Week 9 against the Colts

Seahawks RB Chris Carson (foot) is inactive for Week 9 against the Bills.
Like Carson, Carlos Hyde (hamstring) was previously ruled out. DeeJay Dallas will lead the backfield, but Travis Homer should mix in more after he really wasn't healthy enough to play in Week 8.

Calvin Ridley (foot) is inactive for Week 9 against the Broncos.
Ridley did not practice all week so this move comes as no surprise.

Chiefs declared WR Sammy Watkins, S Tedric Thompson, LB Darius Harris, DE Demone Harris, OT Mitchell Schwartz, TE Ricky Seals-Jones, and DT Khalen Saunders as inactive for Week 9 against the Panthers.
